“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was completely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the wrong finger,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
